Trient

The 18 Jul 2025

12:00

Let yourself be carried away by an unforgettable musical and natural experience. From the Col de la Forclaz, an accessible and panoramic hike will take you along the Trient bisse, through forests, alpine pastures and spectacular viewpoints. Little by little, the glacier reveals itself in all its splendour, majestic and silent, like a natural stage sculpted to welcome music. It is in this magnificent setting that the Trio Concept, ensemble in residence at the Verbier Festival Academy, awaits you. Founded in Turin in 2013, the trio is composed of Edoardo Grieco (violin), Francesco Massimino (cello) and Lorenzo Nguyen (piano). Winner of the prestigious Yves Paternot Prize in Verbier, First Prize at the Schoenfeld Competition in China, exceptional finalist at Wigmore Hall in London and member of the YCAT programme, Trio Concept is one of the most promising ensembles of its generation. It has also been named ECHO Rising Star for the 2025/26 season.

The concert takes place in the enchanting setting of the Trient Glacier café.

About the trio

The Trio Concept was formed in 2013 when three young musicians from Turin met: Edoardo Grieco (violin), Francesco Massimino (cello) and Lorenzo Nguyen (piano). Initially called Trio Chagall, it was renamed Trio Concept in 2024 to reflect its coherent artistic journey, centred on the piano trio as the core of its creative impulse. The name is inspired by Michelangelo's idea of revealing the beauty hidden within, just as a sculptor finds form in marble. The Trio Concept was named ECHO Rising Star for the 2025/26 season and, following a three-week residency at the Verbier Festival Academy, received the Prix Yves Paternot, the Festival's honorary award for exceptional talent and promise. In 2023, the Trio became a YCAT Artist after an outstanding final at Wigmore Hall in London. In the same year, it won first prize at the Schoenfeld International Competition in Harbin, China, and was selected as ensemble in residence for ProQuartet in Paris. Edoardo Grieco plays a 1764 Carlo Antonio and Giovanni Testore violin, while Francesco Massimino plays the ‘Rhine Gold’ cello made by Gaetano Sgarabotto in 1948.
