Panoramic journey in three parts
Finhaut
Discover Emosson – its dams, breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif, thrilling zip line and exceptional hikes – all accessible via VerticAlp’s unique mountain rail system.
Originally used during the construction of the region’s first dam (Barberine, 1921–1925) to transport building materials, these historic transport installations have been preserved, modernised, and repurposed for passenger tourism.
From June to October, embark on a spectacular, panoramic 45-minute journey to Emosson in three thrilling stages!
The Châtelard funicular
The two panoramic cabins take you on an impressive vertical ascent, with a maximum gradient of 87%, making it one of the steepest funiculars in the world! As you climb, the landscape opens up to reveal increasingly alpine views, all the way to the intermediate station at Les Montuires, around 700 meters higher.
Panoramic train
A scenic mountain track winds through forests and tunnels leading you to the foot of the Emosson dam. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the entire Mont-Blanc massif and the deep gorges of the Bouqui.
Minifunicular
From the train terminus at the base of the dam, the "minifunic" takes you up to the top of the Emosson dam at 1965 m.
